The Outsiders

As you read The Outsiders, you will annotate key items in the book. The following are some suggested annotations:
  • Circle words you don't understand or might be used in a way you are not used to.
  • Underline important phrases, passages, or descriptions.
  • Signal where important information can be found by using key words or symbols in the margin. Some symbols might be:
    • ? = I have a question about this.
    • A = I agree with this.
    • D = I disagree with this.
    • ! = Interesting or important part
    • C = I can connect with this.
  • Write questions you have and connections you can make in the margin.
You will need to create two Google Docs that you will add to as we read the book:
  • [student #] Outsiders Journal
  • [student #] Outsiders Summaries
    • In this document you will write one summary of each chapter of the book.
